July 2022

We've arrived at the halfway point for 2022! Whether your plans have you arriving in Aotearoa in the second half of this year or in 2023, we're looking forward to making it as smooth a journey for you as possible.
This month, we're sharing:

  • Recommended reading for the whole family
  • Latest Move to New Zealand Resources
  • Connecting with a faith community
  • What our recent clients are saying about us
  • Immigration & Border Updates
  • Word of the Month: Togs

Starting Your Kiwi Library

One of the things you can do to prepare the whole family for arrival in New Zealand is begin reading Kiwi books and learning te reo Māori. To that end, we thought we'd suggest some books for the whole family.

For young children:

For slightly older children:

For adults:

Once you arrive in New Zealand, you can easily find an even wider selection of local books at a chain bookstore (Paper Plus, Whitcoulls) or a local independent (such as Unity in Wellington and Auckland, Dorothy Butler's Children's Bookshop in Auckland, Scorpio in Christchurch, and the many independents selling online).

Connecting with a Faith Community
For many, building community in a new place includes connecting with a faith community. It's comforting to be amongst people who share your values and traditions, particularly at a time when so many things around you are unfamiliar.

As a starting point, the Ministry for Ethnic Communities maintains a directory of ethnic and religious communities. You can look for your preferred religious organisation on this list, too.

Don't Take Our Word for It

This month we're sharing what some of our recent clients are saying about Mobile:

  • My advisor provided honest comments on properties and areas, and she provided loads of really useful information. Her support has been invaluable.

  • I loved my advisor's helpfulness in showing us around the place and getting all set up.

  • We got a good general understanding of our new surroundings.

  • Our advisor was absolutely amazing at every aspect of us moving over from day one. She made the process seamless and enjoyable.

  • Our advisor really focused on our needs and concerns and assisted us like family. She was friendly and always advised me of the best option.

  • The most valuable aspect of working with Mobile was not just help finding a place but learning how to do all the other things required such as bank account, insurance, drivers license.
Immigration & Border Updates

Get the latest vaccination and testing requirements here. Nearly everyone is required to be vaccinated against Covid 19.

  • Many people are able to enter New Zealand now.

  • From 4 July, the borders will also be open to people applying for a work visa or arriving on an Accredited Employer Work Visa category.

  • From 31 July, all visa categories will be open for arrival.
Word of the Month: Togs

While togs aren't getting much use in Aotearoa these days, hopefully those of you in the Northern Hemisphere are getting to wear yours.

Togs is the way we refer to a swimsuit or bathing suit or swim costume.

Next time you're headed for the pool or beach, maybe you'll put on your togs before you go.
